’The Spirit of Boudica' curated by Lee Sharrock, Crypt Gallery
‘The Spirit of Boudica’ will open at the Crypt Gallery at Norwich Cathedral in Norfolk on International Women’s Day. Inspired by Boudica, Queen of the ancient British Iceni in what is now known as Norfolk, the exhibition will feature paintings, drawings and prints inspired by the legacy of the ancient
Warrior Queen. Boudica, meaning ‘Victorious Woman’, comes from Brythonic *boudi 'victory, win' and kā meaning 'having’. Boudica was known in Latin Chronicles as Boadicea or Boudicea, and in Welsh as Buddug.
